National Library of Namibia welcomes donation of angolan literary work and offers support for english edition launch
Windhoek, 22nd October 2026 — The National Library of Namibia (NL) has welcomed the donation of the Portuguese edition of «The Bantu in Mafrano’s Version – Almost Memories», a significant cultural and anthropological work by the late Angolan writer and ethnologist Maurício Francisco Caetano (1916–1982).
Donated through the Embassy of Angola in Namibia on 31 August 2026, the collection represents a valuable contribution to the preservation of Angola’s literary and cultural heritage and the documentation of Bantu history, traditions and social life.
The National Library has expressed its willingness to assist with venue arrangements for the forthcoming launch of the English edition in Windhoek, which will make the work accessible to a wider readership.
The donation underscores the importance of cultural cooperation and the preservation of historical knowledge across national and linguistic boundaries. The National Library welcomes this gesture and reaffirms its commitment to promoting access to information resources and safeguarding literary and cultural heritage for present and future generations.
